Day off

For once the sun has been shining and it hasn’t been too cold. The phone rings, its Pete, our Union rep.
“Hello Bill. Fancy a beer later?”
“Can’t afford it any more?” Say I. “what’s up.”
“They’re interviewing for a new shift supervisor.”
“So you-know-who is officially going, going?”
“Just thought you’d like to know.” I can almost see Pete’s cheesy grin.
“Pete, you’re diamond.”
“Keep it under your hat.”
“Of course, can’t guarantee I won’t be smiling though.”

All of a sudden it’s a really nice day.

Location: British Columbia, Canada

Exasperated expatriate expostulations all the way from British Columbia, Canada. As if anyone really cared. Oh, I also watch Icelandic Volcanoes and seismic activity. Don't ask me why.
